The airline will establish dual operations at BDL as part of its regional Connecticut base alongside New Haven, initially positioning two aircraft in Hartford. Today, Avelo debuts at BDL with new nonstop routes to Charlotte / Concord (USA) and Wilmington (ILM) in North Carolina, while tomorrow we will see inaugural flights to Daytona Beach (DAB) and Orlando / Lakeland (LAL) in Florida.

Avelo operates these routes twice a week utilizing Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft. Travelers can book at AveloAir.com.

Next week, Avelo will add Houston, Texas (HOU) and its first scheduled international flights with service to Cancun, Mexico (CUN) and Montego Bay, Jamaica (MBJ).

Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO Andrew Levy said, “Avelo is proud to be Connecticut’s Airline. Our Customers tell us they love flying Avelo, and we’re excited to make flying Avelo even more convenient for travelers across the state. With 29 nonstop destinations, including two popular international locations, it’s easier than ever for travelers to seamlessly and reliably get to and from Connecticut. Our presence at BDL is a testament to the welcoming reception Avelo has enjoyed across the state. I appreciate the support Avelo has received from government, community and business leaders throughout Connecticut. And with three consecutive profitable quarters, Avelo is well-positioned for even more growth in the future.”

Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont said, “Over the last several years, Bradley has implemented many major improvements that have resulted in this airport being ranked by leading travel analysts as one of the best in the nation. The addition of Avelo Airlines at Bradley will only increase this airport’s reputation as one of the most convenient airports in the northeast. I look forward to Avelo’s continued growth in Connecticut.”

Connecticut Aviation Authority Executive Director Kevin A. Dillon, A.A.E. said, “After much anticipation, it is wonderful to see the first two scheduled Avelo flights depart from Bradley International Airport. We are appreciative of Avelo’s service at Bradley International Airport, which has strengthened our domestic and international route network, offering our travelers more options and more convenience.”

Growing Avelo in Connecticut

Today, Avelo established dual operations at BDL as part of its regional Connecticut base, initially positioning two aircraft in Hartford. To support its base extension, the airline anticipates creating 80 more jobs in Connecticut aviation for individuals at all stages of their career including pilots, flight attendants, ground services, Customer support and more.

New Haven is Avelo’s largest base – employing over 250 Crewmembers supporting eight aircraft which fly to 27 nonstop destinations. Earlier this week, Avelo celebrated three years of service at HVN, flying more than 2.7 million Customers at Tweed.

America’s Most Convenient Airline

Since taking flight on April 28, 2021, Avelo has flown more than 5.7 million Customers on over 45,000 flights. Today Avelo serves 49 cities spanning 23 states and Puerto Rico, as well as two international destinations: Jamaica and Mexico.

Avelo has unlocked a new era of convenience, choice, and competition by flying unserved routes to primarily underserved communities across the country. Every route has at least one small, easy to use airport. This makes every Avelo journey a smooth, easy, and more enjoyable experience than contending with the crowds, congestion and long walks at larger airports.

Avelo is distinguished by its industry-leading reliability. Year-to-date, Avelo ranks #1 in on-time performance and achieved the lowest flight cancellation rate in the industry. These results are reported by Anuvu, a leading aviation data services company also utilized by The Wall Street Journal for the publication’s annual airline ranking. Anuvu’s complete industry results and rankings are available at AveloAir.com.

Avelo Customers can always change or cancel their itineraries with no extra fees. Additionally, families can travel with ease knowing every child 14 and under will be automatically seated with an accompanying adult at no additional cost.

Avelo offers advanced seat assignments for sale. One third of its seats are extra leg room seats, ranging from 32 inches to more than 36 inches, offering a more comfortable experience for Customers who value more space. In addition to advance seat assignments, Avelo offers several unbundled travel-enhancing options that give Customers the flexibility to pay only for what they value, including priority boarding, checked bags, carry-on overhead bags, and bringing a pet in the cabin.
