Avelo Airlines Surpasses Flying 350,000 Customers in the Philadelphia Region with Industry-Leading Affordability, Reliability and Convenience

  • Travel-inspiring one-way fares start at $75

PHILADELPHIA and WILMINGTON, Del.; May 14, 2024 — Avelo Airlines today celebrates flying over 350,000 Customers on over 2,500 flights at the Philadelphia region’s most convenient airport – Wilmington Airport (ILG). This milestone is a validation of the industry-leading affordability, reliability and convenience Avelo has introduced to Philadelphia and Delaware Valley-area travelers since taking flight at ILG in February 2023.

To celebrate this milestone, Avelo Airlines is continuing to offer Philadelphia-region travelers everyday low fares on every flight. Low one-way fares start at $75* and are available at AveloAir.com.

Avelo has also achieved an impressive level of reliability during its operation at ILG. When excluding weather-related cancellations outside Avelo’s control, the airline achieved a 99.6% completion rate, meaning the airline canceled less than 0.4% of flights at ILG.

Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO Andrew Levy said, “Since arriving at ILG 15 months ago, Avelo has introduced travelers in the Philadelphia and Delaware Valley area to a new era of affordability, convenience and reliability. Today’s milestone demonstrates the appeal our low fares, nonstop access and friendly service are having with travelers throughout the region. It is also clear the fast and easy travel-friendly experience ILG offers has played an equally significant role in inspiring so many people to fly with us. I am grateful to every Avelo Customer who has chosen Avelo.”

The Travel-Friendly Way from Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley

Wilmington Airport is conveniently located a short drive south of Philadelphia – offering a refreshingly fast, smooth and simple alternative hometown airport experience. ILG’s adjacency to multiple major highways and railways makes it the most convenient and travel-friendly airport for Philly and the Delaware Valley, which encompasses portions of four states: Southeastern Pennsylvania, Delaware, South Jersey and the northern Eastern Shore of Maryland.

Avelo currently serves the following nine destinations from ILG: Myrtle Beach, S.C. (MYR); Wilmington, N.C. (ILM); San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU) and six cities in Florida: Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Fort Myers (RSW), Orlando (MCO), Sarasota / Bradenton (SRQ), Tampa (TPA) and West Palm Beach (PBI).

America’s Most Convenient Airline

Avelo was founded to Inspire Travel by saving its Customers time and money. Since taking flight on April 28, 2021, Avelo has flown more than 4.6 million Customers on over 36,000 flights. Today, Avelo serves 52 destinations in 23 states and Puerto Rico.

Avelo has unlocked a new era of convenience, choice, and competition by flying unserved routes to primarily underserved communities across the country. Every route has at least one small, easy to use airport. This makes every Avelo journey a smooth, easy, and more enjoyable experience than contending with the crowds, congestion and long walks at larger airports.

Avelo is distinguished by industry-leading reliability. In 2023, the airline achieved the lowest flight cancellation rate (0.2%) in the U.S. airline industry and ranked #2 in on-time performance with 82.8% of all Avelo flights arriving at their destinations within 15 minutes of their scheduled arrival time – the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) standard metric for reporting on-time performance in the U.S. airline industry known as A14. In April 2024 Avelo ranked #1 in on-time performance and achieved the lowest flight cancellation rate among all U.S. carriers. These results are reported by Anuvu’s third-party data platform. Anuvu is utilized by The Wall Street Journal for the publication’s annual best and worst airline ranking.

Avelo Customers can always change or cancel their itineraries with no extra fees. Additionally, families can travel with ease knowing every child 13 and under will be automatically seated with an accompanying adult at no additional cost.

Avelo offers advanced seat assignments for sale. One third of its seats are extra leg room seats, ranging from 32 inches to more than 36 inches, offering a more comfortable experience for Customers who value more space. In addition to advance seat assignments, Avelo offers several unbundled travel-enhancing options that give Customers the flexibility to pay only for what they value, including priority boarding, checked bags, carry-on overhead bags, and bringing a pet in the cabin.
