Avelo Airlines Celebrates Two Years at Wilmington International Airport with Industry-Leading and Convenience
Avelo celebrates milestone with low one-way fares starting at $66
WILMINGTON, N.C.; June 27, 2024 – Avelo Airlines today celebrates its two-year anniversary of service at Wilmington International Airport (ILM). Since the airline began service at ILM two years ago, Avelo has flown nearly 100,000 Customers on more than 750 flights. This milestone is a validation of the airline’s commitment to growing at ILM and the industry-leading affordability, reliability and convenience Avelo has introduced to Wilmington and Carolina Beaches travelers.
To celebrate this occasion, Avelo is offering travel-inspiring one-way fares as low as $66* from ILM. The commemorative fare is available at AveloAir.com.
Avelo currently serves six nonstop destinations from ILM: Southern Connecticut’s most convenient airport — Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN), Washington, D.C. / Baltimore (BWI), Philadelphia / Delaware Valley (ILG) and three Florida destinations: Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Orlando (MCO) and Tampa (TPA).
Avelo Founder and CEO Andrew Levy said, “Since arriving at ILM two years ago, Avelo has introduced travelers in the Wilmington area to a new era of affordability, convenience and industry-leading reliability. Today’s milestone demonstrates the appeal our low fares, nonstop flights to popular destinations, and friendly service are having with travelers throughout the region. It is also clear the fast and easy travel-friendly experience ILM offers has played an equally significant role in inspiring so many people to fly with us.”
ILM Airport Director Jeff Bourk said, “It’s been great to see Avelo continue to grow their service at ILM. What started off as two routes has now grown to six convenient nonstops with everyday low fares. We’re thankful Avelo continues to invest in ILM and offer more choices to fly nonstop to the northeast and Florida.”
Avelo has also achieved industry-leading reliability at ILM. When excluding weather-related cancellations outside Avelo’s control, the airline achieved a 99.3% completion rate, meaning the airline canceled less than 0.7% of flights at ILM since fruition. In May, the airline also ranked #1 in on-time performance and delivered the lowest flight cancellation rate in the industry – the second straight month Avelo led the industry in both metrics. Additionally, for the first five months of 2024, Avelo climbed to #1 in on-time performance and maintained the second-lowest flight cancellation rate among all U.S. carriers. These results are reported by Anuvu, a leading aviation data services company also utilized by The Wall Street Journal for the publication’s annual airline ranking.
America’s Most Convenient Airline
Since taking flight on April 28, 2021, Avelo has flown more than 4.8 million Customers on over 38,000 flights. Today Avelo serves 53 destinations spanning 24 states and Puerto Rico.
Avelo has unlocked a new era of convenience, choice, and competition by flying unserved routes to primarily underserved communities across the country. Every route has at least one small, easy to use airport. This makes every Avelo journey a smooth, easy, and more enjoyable experience than contending with the crowds, congestion and long walks at larger airports.
Avelo Customers can always change or cancel their itineraries with no extra fees. Additionally, families can travel with ease knowing every child 13 and under will be automatically seated with an accompanying adult at no additional cost.
Avelo offers advanced seat assignments for sale. One third of its seats are extra leg room seats, ranging from 32 inches to more than 36 inches, offering a more comfortable experience for Customers who value more space. In addition to advance seat assignments, Avelo offers several unbundled travel-enhancing options that give Customers the flexibility to pay only for what they value, including priority boarding, checked bags, carry-on overhead bags, and bringing a pet in the cabin.
