Avelo Airlines Continues to Grow in Raleigh / Durham with Exclusive New Nonstop Service to Melbourne, Florida

RDU AIRPORT, N.C.; April 6, 2023 — Avelo Airlines today announced exclusive nonstop service between Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) and Melbourne, Florida.
Avelo will be the only airline offering nonstop flights between RDU and Florida’s Space Coast, building on Avelo’s commitment to bringing more affordable, convenient and reliable air service to the Research Triangle. This new route will expand Avelo’s RDU network to 11 nonstop destinations, including seven Florida routes.
Avelo’s nonstop service from RDU to Melbourne Orlando International Airport (MLB) will begin on June 23 and operate twice-weekly on Mondays and Fridays utilizing Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft. With the addition of this new destination, Avelo will now serve 11 nonstop destinations from RDU. Melbourne will join Connecticut’s most convenient airport — Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN); Manchester, New Hampshire (MHT); Memphis, Tennessee (MEM); Rochester, New York (ROC) and six Florida cities: Orlando (MCO), Tampa (TPA), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Fort Myers (RSW), Sarasota-Bradenton (SRQ) and West Palm Beach (PBI).

Avelo’s Continued Growth at RDU
Avelo initially based one Boeing Next-Generation (NG) 737-700 at RDU on February 15, 2023. The airline has hired approximately 50 RDU-based Crewmembers (employees), including Airport Customer Service, Flight Attendants, Pilots, Aircraft Technical Operations and Maintenance, and Supervisors with more career opportunities still available. With a second 737-800 arriving in mid-June, Avelo expects to hire at least 35 additional Crewmembers – expanding the airline’s total RDU-based employment total to approximately 85 Crewmembers. In April, Avelo will also swap aircraft from the original 737-700 to a larger 737-800, adding more capacity at RDU.
