PHILADELPHIA and WILMINGTON, Del.; August 6, 2024 – Avelo Airlines announced today another expansion at Philadelphia / Delaware Valley region’s best airport – Wilmington Airport (ILG) – adding new service to Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL), the return of three popular Florida destinations and a second based aircraft coming back to ILG. This expansion enables Avelo to significantly expand its convenient, affordable and reliable air service in the Delaware Valley.

Beginning early November, Avelo will operate these routes twice weekly utilizing Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft. Specific route information and start dates below. Avelo is offering very low, one-way fares starting at $46* from ILG. Travelers can make reservations at AveloAir.com.

Last month, Avelo announced nonstop service to Charlotte / Concord, N.C. (USA) and Central Florida’s Orlando / Lakeland (LAL), bringing the total number of routes at ILG to 13.

Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO Andrew Levy said, “Avelo is proud to be the Philadelphia / Delaware Valley region’s airline of choice and continue growth at ILG with a new route to Atlanta, the return of Daytona Beach, the Palm Beaches and Sarasota-Bradenton and adding back our second based aircraft. Our Customers tell us they love the convenience, affordability and reliability of flying Avelo at ILG. I appreciate the support Avelo has received from community leaders across the state and send special thanks to our awesome ILG Crewmembers who make it all happen.”

DRBA Executive Director Thomas J. Cook said, “Avelo’s decision to add four more destinations and to base another aircraft at Wilmington Airport – ILG is another exciting development here and a win for our community. For the past several months, ILG advocates and customers have been appealing for the return of Daytona Beach to Avelo’s schedule here. We’re pleased that it’s returning on a seasonal basis. The second based aircraft means more destinations and additional quality jobs for area residents. It’s a great day for Wilmington Airport and for customers who are seeking low fares, quality service and a convenient, hassle-free airport experience.”

Philadelphia / Delaware Valley’s Most Convenient Airport

Wilmington Airport is conveniently located a short drive south of Philadelphia – offering a refreshingly fast, smooth and simple alternative hometown airport experience. ILG’s adjacency to multiple major highways and railways makes it the most convenient and travel-friendly airport for Philly and the Delaware Valley, which encompasses portions of four states: Southeastern Pennsylvania, Delaware, South Jersey and the northern Eastern Shore of Maryland.

Avelo’s Philadelphia / Delaware Valley base currently employs over 100 Crewmembers supporting two aircraft which fly to 13 nonstop destinations. Since taking flight at ILG in February 2023, Avelo has flown more than 400,000 Customers at ILG on nearly 3,000 flights.

America’s Most Convenient Airline

Since taking flight on April 28, 2021, Avelo has flown over 5.2 million Customers on over 40,000 flights. Today Avelo serves 54 destinations spanning 24 states, Puerto Rico and two international countries: Jamaica and Mexico.

Avelo has unlocked a new era of convenience, choice, and competition by flying unserved routes to primarily underserved communities across the country. Every route has at least one small, easy to use airport. This makes every Avelo journey a smooth, easy, and more enjoyable experience than contending with the crowds, congestion and long walks at larger airports.

Avelo is distinguished by its industry-leading reliability. Year-to-date, Avelo ranks #1 in on-time performance and achieved the lowest flight cancellation rate in the industry. These results are reported by Anuvu, a leading aviation data services company also utilized by The Wall Street Journal for the publication’s annual airline ranking. Anuvu’s complete industry results and rankings are available at AveloAir.com.

Avelo Customers can always change or cancel their itineraries with no extra fees. Additionally, families can travel with ease knowing every child 14 and under will be automatically seated with an accompanying adult at no additional cost.

Avelo offers advanced seat assignments for sale. One third of its seats are extra leg room seats, ranging from 32 inches to more than 36 inches, offering a more comfortable experience for Customers who value more space. In addition to advance seat assignments, Avelo offers several unbundled travel-enhancing options that give Customers the flexibility to pay only for what they value, including priority boarding, checked bags, carry-on overhead bags, and bringing a pet in the cabin.
