Avelo Airlines Launches Service Between Los Angeles and Phoenix
Burbank, Calif., and PHOENIX, May 3, 2021 — America’s first new mainline airline in nearly 15 years — Avelo Airlines — commences service today between Los Angeles and Phoenix. With one-way fares starting at $19, Avelo is ushering in a new era of choice, low fares and convenience between these two popular fun-in-the-sun destinations.
Avelo will serve Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport (AZA) and Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) — both more convenient, stress-free alternatives to the major international airports in each market. Flight XP109 departs BUR daily at 7:00 a.m. arriving AZA at 8:25 a.m. local time; flight XP110 departs AZA at 9:05 a.m., arriving BUR at 10:40 a.m.
“We are excited to bring more options and lower fares between these two popular vacation destinations,” said Avelo Chairman and CEO Andrew Levy. “Customers arriving in Phoenix will be closer than ever to the many attractions that Greater Phoenix and its majestic surroundings offer — from the pools and golf courses of Scottsdale’s refreshing resorts to the natural Sonoran Desert beauty of Tonto National Forest. All without the hassle of navigating airport traffic, racing to rail connections, waiting for rental car shuttles, or competing for rideshares. And for those considering Southern California for their next getaway, BUR is the ultra-convenient, stress-free gateway to Greater LA.”
The route will be served by 189-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft, one of the most fuel-efficient commercial aircraft globally, providing Customers with a large, comfortable cabin with more room, more seats and more seating options than the regional aircraft typically serving the airports in Avelo’s network.
“Today’s inaugural flight by Avelo Airlines is exciting news for both Greater Phoenix and Los Angeles area air travelers,” said Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Authority CEO J. Brian O’Neill, A.A.E. “This new service provides high quality, ultra-low-fare connectivity between two major markets in the West. I am confident that Avelo will be very successful at PhoenixMesa Gateway Airport.”
Whether Customers are departing or arriving, BUR offers a refreshingly hassle-free experience. Named the 2019 “Best U.S. Airport” by Fodor’s Travel, BUR features include seamless curbside pickup and drop-off, smaller crowds, shorter walking distances from curb to gate, unrivaled speed for plane-to-carousel bag delivery, and shorter TSA security lines. No airport is closer to downtown LA, Hollywood, Pasadena and other attractions throughout Southern California making BUR the ultra-convenient, stress-free gateway to Greater LA.
